Peru

Peru has a population of around 27 million people, 55% of which live below the poverty threshold and 87% work unofficially. There is a strong fatalistic attitude and ignorance in the shantytowns, populated by people who used to live in wide open spaces in mountainous and desert areas. For the majority of the population, education must become the country’s main priority in order to bring about a lasting change and enable children to believe in a better future.
